He got his first fame as a student, as he wrote a number of highly popular songs, the famous Prelude, the First piano Concerto and the Opera «Aleko», which put in the Bolshoi theatre. This is the story of three musical legends and a moment in New York in January 1928, when they were forever joined in history. The participants included the two greatest pianists of an era: the towering Sergei Rachmaninoff, whose romantic compositions and transcendent keyboard artistry captivated a generation; and Vladimir Horowitz, the fire-breathing virtuoso’s virtuoso, who had just Sergei Rachmaninoff was a renowned composer, pianist, and conductor. Because he was a member of the Russian aristocracy, he fled the country after the tsar's abdication, and eventually relocated in the United States. Many of his compositions are for piano, yet he also composed orchestral and symphony works, three operas, choral and liturgical works, some chamber works, and numerous songs. Rachmaninoff's compositions cover a variety of musical forms and genres.
